Welcome! My name is Wendy Callahan and I’m from a university town in Massachusetts. After living in Europe for a few years, we had to decide where to live next. My husband convinced me to move to the Midwest and I’m glad we are here. Living in a rural community is one of the best moves I ever made (even if I do miss England!).
I embrace simplicity, self-sufficiency, and a vintage cottage aesthetic. Our old-fashioned town really inspires me to pursue those interests. In addition, we also have more than enough space to garden and play with some DIY projects. We bought our current house after returning to the U.S. in 2013 and Our Prairie Nest was established!
Now I’m a Pagan city hippie living in the country. I’m also a genealogist, gamer, and one of the authors of Steampunk for Simpletons, among a handful of other books. My alter-ego is a bestselling romance novelist, which is how I support my family.
In addition to writing, I am beyond passionate about genealogy. I am one of the co-founders of The Rogue Genealogist, a group for “outsiders” in the genealogical community. If you share my passion for genealogy, you can also find me at New England Genealogy, established in 2007 to share my family history and help others with their research.
